After the trailer went live, Wilson posted the similarities of a particular shot of the film from the arc he worked on. In the shot, Natasha is seen bursting out of an exploding building with her arms crossed. It’s bombastic and showcases just how far the Black Widow is willing to go for her mission. And thanks to colorist Matt Wilson, fans can appreciate that the shot. It is directly inspired by a panel from the creative team’s 12-issue series. Take a look for yourselves.
The Black Widow film having such a direct reference to the comics is sure to be one of many treats for devoted fans. There’s plenty of source material the upcoming solo flick could draw from. And to see it reference one of Widow’s more modern stories is a great sign. Hopefully, Samnee, Wilson, and Waid are referenced in the ‘thank you’ section of the end credits.
It’s always exciting to see a comic panel come to life on the big screen. Black Widow’s solo movie is going to be action-packed fun. Black Widow is coming to theaters on April 24th, 2020.
